ABA
Model Me Kids is producing a how-to ABA video which will
be released in 2008. Each dvd will come with a companion CD-Rom
containing printable program sheets with program targets and
data collection sheets.
ABA is an early intervention technique often used to teach
children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Model Me Kids
ABA video will address pecific targets and the following topics:
- Prompting
- Reinforcement
- Data keeping
- Generalization
- Maintenance
- Mastery criteria
About Applied
Behavior Analysis or ABA
ABA is a method of teaching skills to children with Autism.
ABA involves breaking down skills into their smallest pieces,
and teaching each part in a manner where the child is only
successful. Positive reinforcement is used to motivate behavior.
The basic concept is that if the child is successful, and
rewarded for that success, the desired behavior will continue.
Assessment for generalization is an important component of
an ABA program.
ABA involves one to one teaching in a structured environment.
Data is kept on "trials" to determine mastery of
a skill. Once mastered, a new skill is introduced and mastered
skills are "maintained."
